What is the 'Western Power Distribution area' and why aren't I in it?

The UK's power networks are operated by 'distribution network operators' or DNOs, of which Western Power Distribution is one. This application works by using the data gathered by Western Power Distribution to measure the attached generation sources and load that occurs on each local substation, so we can only show you the data from the substations within the Western Power Distribution area.

This area includes the East & West Midlands, South Wales and the South West.

Some people could find that their local substation might be inside the Western Power Distribution area - usually on the edge of it - but that we cannot retrieve the data for the local generation mix. This is because it is supplied by a different distribution network operator.
